As the best beer spots and brewpubs in Los Angeles, CA can’t help but underscore, the craft beer boom has hit LA strong in recent years, with the city now rapidly expanding in terms of both the number of manufacturers and fans it plays home to. All across town, new breweries, taprooms, and brewpubs are opening at a healthy clip, giving Angelenos looking to grab a brewski and a bite plenty of options to pick from. Here, we take a look at several of the city’s finest brewpubs to check out for those who want to sample the best of LA’s breweries.

Golden Road Brewing Los Angeles

5410 W San Fernando Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90039

Opened in 2011 in Atwater Village, Golden Road Brewing was established with a singular mission to bring fresh delicious craft beer to the Los Angeles area. Today, the LA brewpub offers 27 beers including three guest taps which currently house a gluten-free beer, kombucha, and a hard cider. Stop by for a free tour of their brewing and canning facility or grab a beer and a bite in their indoor pub, or on the dog-friendly outside patio, which features a multitude of games including cornhole, a giant Connect Four, ping-pong table, giant Jenga, and foosball. Chef Adam Levoe has brought an elevated dining experience to the pub with a creative menu including gluten-free and vegan dishes and items like their Asada Fries, Wasabi Crusted Ahi Bowl and the fan-favorite Avo Tacos.

Los Angeles Ale Works

12918 Cerise Ave, Hawthorne, CA 90250

Brewer-owned and operated, Los Angeles Ale Works was started by a group of homebrewers who were dedicated to bringing independent beer to Angelenos. Featuring something for every palate, their spectrum of ales and lagers is wide ranging - light, hoppy, Belgian, dark, sour, etc. Don't miss out on the wide variety of California-inspired beers made with locally foraged fruits and spices. At their Hawthorne taproom, which features a large outdoor patio, pull from a selection of tabletop games or giant Jenga and choose from 25 styles of beer including a rotating cask and two rotating nitro selections. You’ll find some of LA’s most popular food trucks nightly here as they have a rotating selection of options.

Beelman’s

600 S Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90014

Beelman’s is a 100% plant-based, Asian influenced restaurant in DTLA by chef Caroline Concha, boasting elevated plant-based pub fare ranging from bar snacks to main dishes and even Sunday brunch. The Stalking Horse Brewery & Freehouse

The authentic English brewpub experience in West LA features a menu of pastries and pies (both non-vegan) which underscore its pub-fare menu. Combining traditional Cornish fare with an onsite craft brewery in a welcoming British pub setting, The Stalking Horse Brewery & Freehouse is open daily serving lunch, dinner, late night and Proper British Brunch every weekend with 17 beers on tap including The Stalking Horse brewed beers, as well as other beers from other Artisanal Brewers Collective (ABC) properties

Arts District Brewing Company

828 Traction Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Situated in DTLA’s Arts District (the center of a revival for the city’s artists, musicians, hustlers, and craftspeople), Arts District Brewing Company opened December 2015 to much aplomb. The venue boasts an on-site 15-barrel brewhouse and now offers 30+ beers, all brewed on-site, ranging from golden ales to stouts to IPAs. The 17,000 square-foot space also features a full bar, outdoor patio, private room and an expansive entertainment area with a photobooth and multiple classic bar games. There are around 20 beers available on tap and food is also available via a take-out window connected to the restaurant.

Angel City Brewery

216 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Located the historic John A. Roebling Building in LA’s Downtown Arts District, Angel City Brewery opened its doors in 2013. With an ever-rotating selection of 18 Angel City beers on tap, which includes a number of vintages exclusively available at the Brewery, it serves up a great spot to grab a pint or a flight or go on a brewery tour. Pair your beer with a tasty taco from the on-site Downtown Taco Co. food truck or come by for one of their paint and pint evenings.

Mohawk Bend

2141 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026

The former 100-year old Vaudeville theater was retrofitted in 2011 to be a staple craft beer restaurant and bar in Echo Park. Featuring over 100 craft California beers on tap in addition to fresh, locally-sourced fare and drink using only California ingredients, you can enjoy pizzas, seasonal salads, elevated pub food and dessert. Great for meat-lovers, vegetarians and vegans alike, enter under the façade movie-style marquee and enjoy a bite and brew inside or on their back patio with a fireplace.

Broxton

1099 Westwood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90024

Broxton is a community brewery and public house taking up residence in the historic Janss Dome building in the heart of Westwood Village. Featuring 14 taps, partly filled by in-house brews and others from ABC properties, the friendly neighborhood hangout offers fresh beer brewed on site, California comfort food and a game-laced patio. Brewers Noah Regnery and Brandon Edwards bring over a decade of experience to Broxton as well as extensive knowledge of the rich craft beer culture from San Diego up the coast.

Trustworthy Brewing Co.

156 W Verdugo Ave, Burbank, CA 91502

With a mission to create inspirational beers that are both exciting and fun to drink, Trustworthy Brewing Co’s head brewer Chris Walowski invites all to their Burbank brewery for some great beer and a top-notch taproom experience. With 15 beers on tap including barrel-aged sours, fruited sours and whiskey barrel-aged blends, bartenders provide helpful drinking insights alongside a menu of pizza, burgers and fries, which are available for delivery.
