Best Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts in Martha's Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard is one of America’s most popular island getaways and summer vacation escapes. It’s known to see the likes of celebrities and politicians traipsing down its well-loved streets, but as it turns out, it’s also a fun and engaging destination for friends, families and couples alike. Whether you’re traveling alone or with your children, there’s a plethora of outdoor adventure to be had here from hiking, biking and sailing to more relaxed activities like lounging on the beach or taking a spa day. If you’re looking for a cozy place to stay on the island (outside of popular hotels such as Martha’s Vineyard Surfside Hotel and The Pequot), fear not as well. There’s no shortage of warm and welcoming bed and breakfasts that serve as your temporary home away from home when on your New England holiday. Added bonus: Those planning a stay in nearby Cape Cod should check out our guide to the best hotels for business travelers and families there from the Seagrove Inn and Suites to Captain’s Quarters as well.

The Charlotte Inn

This tasteful accommodation will deliver you straight to the English countryside without ever leaving Massachusetts. The stylings, linens and atmosphere feel warm without being overbearing. Treat yourself to a meal at The Terrace to round out your trip.

 The Hob Knob

You’ll be charmed by this Gothic Revival inn. From its lush gardens to tranquil spa, you’ll feel your worries slip away. They have a few curated packages for those looking for the ultimate relaxation destination, including a few wedding packages and a girls weekend package.

Harbor View Hotel

Harbor View is in the ideal destination as it is steps from Edgartown, but you can still see sunrises over the water. They offer a number of activities from an outdoor heated pool to yoga to cabana rentals. Harbor View combines luxury with simplicity for a comfortable stay.

Inkwell Beach House

In Oak Bluffs, you can relax at the seaside escape known formerly as Isabelle’s. You can opt for a room with water views or even rent the whole b&b if you’re bringing friends and family. It’s perfect for those looking to make the most of the beach as you’ll be just moments away.

The Sydney

The history of the building (home of a former captain) is as charming as the welcome you’ll receive upon your arrival. Its restaurant l'etoile has received its own accolades that will make your stay well worth it.

Oak Bluffs Inn

Oak Bluffs Inn is a warm spot of hospitality. The penthouse room will give you the best views from your own private balcony and the most luxurious stay. It’s close to the main thoroughfare for dining, shopping and beachgoing.

Mansion House

Those looking to stay active while on vacation will love the amenities of Mansion House. They boast a full health club and spa offering everything from lap swimming to Swedish massage. You’re encouraged to not bring your car as everything you need is within walking distance.

Summercamp Hotel

Summercamp alludes to days gone by of summers spent outside with your friends -- but with a tasteful upgrade. It’s the largest hotel on Martha’s Vineyard and recently renovated for your pleasure. While not technically a bed and breakfast, it does attempt to emulate something of the look and feel. As such, you can enjoy views of the harbor from a rocking chair on the porch at this popular seaside escape.

Nobnocket Boutique Inn

This quiet retreat is surrounded by an outdoor oasis of trees and foliage. The fresh air is the perfect complement to the modern interior, where you’ll make yourself at home whether you’re in the sitting room or your bedroom.

Beach Plum Inn

Beach Plum sits proudly atop Vineyard Sound. You can choose from sleeping in the main house or reserving your own private cottage on the grounds. And if you’re coming with a crew, Evelyn’s House sleeps 4-6 people.
